Microphone App — questions, tips, and contact info.

Common Questions

Why do I hear echo or feedback?

The built-in speaker causes feedback because the mic picks up its own output. Use wired or Bluetooth headphones to eliminate this.

Why did my Bluetooth device switch back to the phone speaker?

Select your Bluetooth device in the route picker before pressing Start — that preserves the route. If it still switches, tap the route picker again after starting.

What does the Gain slider do?

Gain amplifies or attenuates the microphone signal. 100% is unity (no change). Above 100% boosts the signal; below 100% reduces it. Your setting is saved and restored on next launch.

Does pass-through work when the screen is locked?

Yes, provided the app was already running in the foreground when you locked the screen.

Why does pass-through stop during a phone call?

iOS interrupts audio sessions for phone calls and Siri. Pass-through resumes automatically when the interruption ends.

Why is AirPlay latency higher than Bluetooth?

AirPlay buffers audio over Wi-Fi, typically adding 1–2 seconds of latency. Bluetooth adds ~100–200ms, and wired headphones add less than 5ms.
